Welcome at the Competence Network for the sustainable use of wood (NHN)
Germany’s first-ever research alliance covering the entire forestry and wood production chain was brought into being through an initiative of leading research establishments in the southern part of Lower Saxony.
The goal of the Competence Network for the sustainable use of wood (NHN) is to promote interdisciplinary cooperation and to collaborate closely with partners in the woodworking and wood processing industry in carrying out application-oriented research. The core competencies of the NHN are found in the areas of wood production, wood technology, biotechnology and molecular biology. The networking of different areas of competence makes it possible to realize interdisciplinary concepts all along the forestry and wood process chain.
In its capacity as the meeting point between research and industrial partners, the NHN takes responsibility for network and project management, participates in research projects, offers vocational and further training opportunities and helps to market newly developed products.
The modern "Biotechnikum" technology center also enables the NHN to carry out research work of its own and to support its partners in collaborative research projects.
Through the efficient utilization of existing competencies and the research facilities of partner institutions and using new technologies the NHN will develop a new generation of wood products.
The NHN aims at enhancing and meliorating the use of the renewable and environmentally benign resource wood.CONTACT:
